The REDI for Emergencies software program was initially developed in 1997 in collaboration with the National League of Cities Risk Information Sharing Consortium.
The original development team sought to solve a big problem for educational organizations in coordinating with outside Public Safety agencies. While it was not required at the time, the team chose the Incident Command System (ICS) as the best vehicle for that coordination.
Since then, ICS has become a mandate under the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the software program continues to facilitate those best practices today.
